Biography
Heidi Nickel (Ontario, Canada) is a trilingual [English, French, German] Canadian-born theatre artist who's works are specialized in voicing the silenced stories of individuals in the Neurodivergent community through physical theatre and dance.
Heidi began studying classical ballet at Miss Ilona's School of Dance and has competed in national competitions in ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance since 2006. Her roles in public ballet productions include Heidi from the famous Swiss Novel of the same name (Johanna Spyri, Heidi), Lost Boy (J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan), Flora (Charles Perrault, Sleeping Beauty), and more. Her love of dance inspired her to study Dramatic Arts at Brock University in Niagara, Ontario, Canada earning her Bachelor of Arts with Honours concentrating in performance, applied theatre, stage production, and theatre in education in 2021, and has become specialized in Commedia dell'Arte through international training at Arscomica by Antonio Fava from 2023-2024.
Active as an actress and dancer in Canada and abroad, her performances has taken her to Italy, the Netherlands, and Greece performing in English, French, German, and Italian. Her most recent international performance was in Thessaloniki Greece amongst five other artists from around Europe researching the symbolism of water and the power of ecofeminism in a physical performance piece entitled "Ripples of Change."
Heidi is a passionate theatre maker and traveler working towards spreading awareness of the importance of Neurodiversity and advocating for feminist movements towards ecological change that severely impact the quality of life for the Neurodivergent community.
